Serving up a weekly helping of the stars, politicos, and average Joes making headlines.
Good Tuesday morning! Welcome to my first blog. I’ll be honest – this is a major undertaking for me given that I only just recently mastered Facebook. (Apparently my friends and co-workers have been on Facebook and Twitter for years so it appears I am WAY behind the times. But I just had a baby, so there are a lot of things I’m behind on these days.) Regardless, I can fling opinions into cyberspace as good as the next person so here is my attempt to blog and be “with it.” Enjoy.
Gustav – the hurricane that wasn’t – stole the show from the Republicans on the eve of their convention this week so there was much debate over how McCain and friends would rally and generate excitement for the ticket this fall.
They didn’t need to worry.
Sarah Palin solved that problem by confirming that her 17-year old daughter is pregnant, prompting a media frenzy that pushed Gustav to the sidelines and began a spirited debate over Palin’s ability to juggle working motherhood.
Regardless of who you’re voting for this November (and I’ll never tell!), you have to agree with CNN’s Anderson Cooper, who called out the double standard for female candidates. No one has asked John McCain or Barack Obama about their ability to juggle work and family, have they? In fact, I believe the leading story up until this week was Michelle Obama’s outfits.
Speaking of Obama, he told the media to back off of Palin’s family. Nice move, Senator.
In other baby news, congrats to golf great Tiger Woods who is expecting baby #2 with his wife Elin. Let’s hope we see him and the new addition at the 2009 BMW Championship in Chicago.
I have JSH&A’s Deanna Killackey to thank for this next news item: the anti-Scientology group Anonymous has confirmed they will be at Katie Holmes’ Broadway debut on October 16 in an attempt to “save Katie” from the clutches of Scientology. Hilarious. What they really need to do is save Katie from the clutches of Posh Spice. Regardless, I bet this will be the Today show’s leading story on October 17, election or no election.
Until next week…

Kristin, great post! I’m looking forward to reading more about People in the News and your Inside Dish. Thanks!
I look forward to reading your blog on a regular basis – you done good!
