What’s that they say about great minds?

April 1st, 2009 | by: JSH&A

After reading my daily email blasts with an eye out for a new blog topic, I wanted to write about the DailyObama, but turns out that was just an April Fools Day joke (apparently you can’t really spy on the President while he is sleeping, or making donuts with his daughters).  Then I set my sights on Gmail’s new Autopilot function, but that is ALSO a joke (thank goodness my email can not yet craft “the perfect reply” on my behalf – then what’s left for me to do?!).

But someone – and something – else that has been on my mind, and that’s been rocking the social media scene lately (and for awhile now) is Peter Shankman (I am not joking).

The genius social media and PR guru behind HARO (Help A Reporter Out) and author of Can We Do That? (the first book my first boss recommended I read) is a constant in the world of PR, constantly engaging audiences as a speaker, entrepreneur and member of the elite Twitterati to name a few of his specialties.  His website is a plethora of information and his blog offers a sneak peak into his life (I am liking his new Couchside Social Media Monitoring Center).

He’s the go-to guy when companies are looking for the perennial expert, the courageous master of stunt, shock and social media PR.  His three times daily HARO queries go out to an audience of more than 70,000 sources, from a pool of more than 10,000 journalists.  He links seekers to the source (so obvious!) all the while introducing us to new and interesting products “before the jump.”  You can find him here: http://shankman.com/ … and everywhere else you turn in the social media spectrum.

But maybe you are just in the mood for more jokes, in which case, enjoy Etsy Finds: Fools Rush In stash … it’s a good one (think fake fingers, gum pins and specialty pillows).  Happy April Fools Day!
